The Lounge Vet is owned and operated by Katie Hansard MA Vet MB MRCVS. Katie qualified from Cambridge University in 1999 and has been in small animal clinical practice for 25 years, working in a variety of roles and settings.

Besides her clinical experience, Katie’s career has given her a vast insight into the important relationships people have with their pets. She is approachable, naturally empathetic and compassionate, with finely tuned communication skills. 

​

Katie believes that veterinary care should be genuine collaboration between the vet and caregiver, who both have the animal’s best interests at heart. In her opinion, owners should find veterinary care be a rewarding, pleasant experience and will always strive to make sure this is the case for her clients.

Katie lives locally with her husband Simon and four children, along with Arlo the Red Fox Labrador and Clarence her geriatric cat.

Katie may be supported by a patient care assistant or nurse on her visits if required. She has a small team of reliable colleagues, all of whom have similar values and aspirations for the care they provide.
